About Destin

The coastal town Destin is famous for its white-sand beaches and emerald green waters. The area started as a small fishing village, known as "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village", is a popular tourist destination. In fact, statistics show that more than 80% of the Emerald Coast’s yearly tourists visit Destin. Destin is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and water in the entire United States and it is no wonder why real estate is so popular. There is a huge draw every year during the summer months of tourists from all locations.

The peak season is between Memorial Day and Labor Day and spring and early fall bring some of the area’s most gorgeous weather and is considered midseason.  Destin’s off-season is between November and March.  During these months the mild temperatures and beautiful weather draw Snowbirds that escape the cold of northern states and Canada.

The majority of Destin Florida real estate consists of beachfront high-rise condos in central Destin and Gulf front homes and condos with private and public beach access on beautiful Holiday Isle.

Many Destin residents live on the north side of Highway 98 in the residential subdivisions and around some of the area's premier golf course communities. Highly sought-after quaint Crystal Beach boasts gorgeous homes both new and old on the south side of Highway 98.

Destin History

Destin History and Fishing Museum is dedicated to preserving, documenting, and sharing the stories of the little fishing village that was founded on the sandy shores of East Pass in the 1830s. Experience the feeling of swimming in the Gulf of Mexico with award-winning examples of fish caught in Destin. This exhibit is displayed on 100 feet of wall space depicting the Gulf floor. View a large collection of antique fishing rods and reels; the most unique is constructed of split bamboo with an original Penn Reel that belonged to Ernest Hemingway. Get an idea of life in Destin before the arrival of electricity in the 1930s. Visit the original Destin Post Office building located adjacent to the property. See the oldest seine fishing boat still in existence, The Primrose, built in 1925. Enjoy vintage photographs of early Destin settlers, boat captains and their boats, beach scenes, businesses, and much more.

It’s not just a fishing village today, but visitors keep learning why people want to keep returning to the harbor and shores of Destin each year. That includes green waters, sandy beaches, great fishing, excellent dining, active lifestyle, shopping, and high-end dining. These are some of the many reasons why you should consider investing in property in Destin.
